Qatar Cycling & Triathlon Federation runs the national team tasked with developing Qatari talent and taking it to the highest levels in multisport. It is comprised of three squads: The Youth squad, which is from 8 years old to 15 years old, joining local races. Then the Development Squad, which contains athletes of 20 to 35 years old. And the Elite Squad, which contains athletes of 16 to 30 years old.
The team is developed and assisted by an international team of coaching, mechanical and medical staff who are committed to the goals of placing a Qatari on the podium of major championships and achieving Olympic success. Our question is… Will you be one of our champions?
KUN RIYADI "BE AN ATHLETE"
Kun Riyadi is our triathlon-specific development pathway which has been devised in partnership with Aspire Academy and Qatar Olympic Committee. It takes a holistic approach to talent ID and athlete development, recognizing the different stages and rates of development and incorporating the roles of athlete, coach, and parent. Kunriyadi is fundamental to how our national team operates and is therefore essential reading by all those involved with the team, including parents and the athletes themselves. To find out more seewww.kunriyadi.com or contact the coaching team to learn about the cycling specific pathway.
Join the Youth Squad
The youngest athletes are not necessarily ready to race but have demonstrated an aptitude and commitment to one or more of the sports in triathlon. Of course, a strong interest and experience in all three helps. We are looking for those who are interested in preparing for local youth races and live a healthy lifestyle, practicing more than one sport, in a structured, long-term, fun, and organised environment.
Join the Development Squad
As a development squad member, you will either have risen through the youth squad or will have shown potential by strong performances in local triathlon races. If your achievements took place outside Qatar, you’ll need to show evidence of your talent. This is the first step towards reaching the elite squad.
Join the Elite Squad
Elite squad members are already winning triathlon races and performing at a high level in their respective divisions. They arefunded to compete outside the country in international races and join overseas training camps. This is an environment that requires strong commitments and deep desires to be your best.
Application & Eligibility
- To join the National Team you must be a holder of a Qatari passport. Non-Qatari nationals are considered in exceptional circumstances if they have a realistic prospect of success at major championships and are able to contribute to the development of the national team.
- To apply for any of the squads contact the coaching team, clearly stating why you or your child should be considered and providing a list of results including relevant dates. Please note that, due to the many requests we receive, we will not respond to those who do not meet the eligibility criteria.
