About Qatar Triathlon Federation

A LIFETIME ON BICYCLES

Here in Qatar we should always remind ourselves that triathletes around the world would be envious of what lies right on our doorsteps: Warm, opal-coloured seas and white sand beaches are the main stage of our events; the fruits of the nation’s sporting ambitions gives us easy-reach access to swimming pools and running tracks; our flat roads are suited to training on the aerobars; and we have a supportive and active multisport community.

Small wonder then that, while this sport is still in its infancy here, it is growing up fast – both in terms of participation, gains in strength and experience of our top performers, and in the goals that we have for our athletes, events and sport as a whole.

Qatar Triathlon Federation is the national governing body for triathlon and its related multisports. We are working to develop the sport and the expertise needed for it to thrive. This is reflected in the ambitious targets of  our mission which we share with our sister organisation, Qatar Cycling Federation

The Qatar National Team, mentored by QTF coaches and support staff, is developing our talented youth to compete in Gulf region races and events all over the world. And since 2018 you will have found Qatari age-group triathletes taking their place alongside those of other nations at International Triathlon Union (ITU) world championships.

2018 was also the year in which, QTF launched the Qatar Triathlon Series with the support of clubs and other race organisers. With these open water events, plus many pool-based races, and with the stunning Doha Triathlon as the major event of interest to local enthusiasts and the international sports tourist alike, the events calendar offers something for all ability levels. And remember – we are just getting started!
